A seasoned knight, a lady of royal blood with a price on her head, and a love that should have never been....

1203 A.D. - The Lady Elizabeau Treveighan is the illegitimate daughter of Geoffrey, Duke of Brittany. Elizabeau was sent to foster at a very young age, her identity known only to a herself and the earl who fostered her. When her half-brother Prince Arthur is murdered and rumors begin to fly that the opposition to King John intends to marry her to a Teutonic prince and supplant her and her new husband as the rulers of England, she suddenly becomes a very hot, and very dangerous, commodity.

Sir Rhys du Bois is charged with keeping Elizabeau safe until her arranged marriage can occur, but the task turns into one of monumental proportions. It's one harrowing flight after another as Rhys tries to keep Elizabeau from harm's way. Somewhere in the process, they fall madly in love with each other and the knight finds himself battling duty and love in order to stay on task. Torn, but with a tremendous sense of duty, he cannot escape the feelings that are swamping him, and Elizabeau does not make it easy for him. Her love for him supersedes her loyalty to her country, and to a family name that has only meant heartache for her.

When Elizabeau is finally captured by the king's men and slated for execution under the charge of treason, Rhys will risk everything to save her from the executioner's sword. However, Rhys is betrayed by another knight and soon, he too is slated for the executioner's axe. As Rhys and Elizabeau face death together, allies come together for a covert operation that will save their lives. It's a race against time before King John's men can execute the last legitimate heiress to the throne and her protector turned lover.

The de Lohr Dynasty can all be read as stand-alones, but the chronological order is

While Angels Slept
Rise of the Defender
Steelheart
Shadowmoor
Silversword
Spectre of the Sword
Unending Love

Spectre of the Sword de Lohr Dynasty Book 6 edition by Kathryn Le Veque Romance eBooks

I love her books. In spite of the editing errors, her stories are so good, so original, so historically interesting that I can read right around the mistakes, which are really minor. Le Veque immerses the reader in the times, and her characters are griping; very strong. I could not see any way out for Elizabeau and Rhys. I was completely engrossed in how Le Veque was going to bring us a happy ending, particularly after they were scheduled to be executed. She ended it masterfully, unexpectedly. As an author myself, I thoroughly admire her ability and originality. Keep giving us such great stories, and don't forget your medieval fans.

Spectre of the Sword de Lohr Dynasty Book 6 edition by Kathryn Le Veque Romance eBooks Reviews

What an adventure! Spectre of the Sword was non-stop, intense, medieval action and I loved every minute! Le Veque’s writing is marvelous and she keeps you enthralled in the story from beginning to end. And what an ending she gives! You just never know HOW it will it end. Heck, you don’t even know what will happen on the next page. She’s just full of surprises. I was a nervous wreck the entire way, but man oh man the last few chapters had me bouncing off the couch. I screamed. I cheered. I wept. I love her characters and how they re-appear in most of her novels. But all of her books can be read as complete stand –alones. This is a huge plus to me because let’s face it, there’s enough series out there and gosh darn it just not enough time to read everything. So I like knowing that I can pick up one of her books at any time and just read. Not have to worry about missing anything or trying to remember what the heck happened in the last book that came out how many years ago. I also really like how her romantic scenes are tasteful, meaningful, and kept to the minimal. I dislike when books are loaded with ten zillion sex scenes. That just feels like fillers to me. Plus it gets really boring. I want an actual story and real love. Well folks, we have it all here with Le Veque’s novels. Battles, espionage, treachery, suspense, love, and of course knights in shining armor )
I haven't written a review in a long time and I've read a good amount of book. Some were good and others were not so good but this book was amazingly good! This is my first time reading this author and words can not express the feelings I have after reading this book.

Originally I didn't expect much and decided I was only going to read the first chapter so I could have something to read in my spare time. I got hooked! Next thing I knew I was telling myself just a couple more chapters, then I found myself reading more and more and I couldn't stop. I didn't even get reach half of the book before I declared " This has got to be one of the best romance books I have ever read."

One thing that I loved about this book was the fact that they admitted to their feeling earlier on in the book. The author didn't wait until the book was almost finished to have them show their devotion and speak of their love openly to each other and others. This allowed me to just fall in love the with the hero Rhys. He fights between his sense of duty/honor and his love for Elizabeau and it pulls you in. Elizabeau is strong but not afraid to show her emotions and it the process they balance each other out. The hero shed tears for his love...and it was beautiful!

I love how this author writes and to be honest I would read this book over again, in fact while reading I had to stop and reread some of the thing Rhys says to Elizabeau. I can only say this a for a couple of books I have read in my life. Kathryn Le Veque did an amazing job with this book and I originally read a review from one of other books speaking about her writing and I completely understand what the reviewer meant. I can't wait to read her other books.
What a truly phenomenal story! I know it seems I just gush every time I finish reading anything written by Ms. Le Veque but she really writes these amazing stories that I haven't found one I didn't adore! In fact, I have read this book twice and love everyone in the story that much more especially the hero Rhys du Bois. Usually I seem to rate all the of books I have read by her either a 4 or 5 star and with this one I also can't help but give a high rating of 5 too. Who in their right mind wouldn't fall for someone as gallant and enticing as the hero Sir Rhys du Bois? As the story progressed I felt sympathetic and understanding of his struggle to resist the heroine Elizabeau but to remain the most honorable knight as possible. Being only human couldn't help but fall in love he is a man not made of stone. I myself couldn't help but adore and love his character too! Elizabeau is a good likable strong heroine and perfect for Rhys of course I was a little envious of her too in getting Rhys.
Our adventure starts off with our hero Sir Rhys du Bois at Hyde House in London getting ready to take our heroine the audacious but beauteous Lady Elizabeau Treveighan out of the house and to safety before being ambushed by the enemy King John. Elizabeau is promised to marry a Teutonic prince in and in doing so would make her the next Queen of England. Danger awaits them at every turn no matter where they go trouble seems to follow. Finally Rhys takes Elizabeau to his mom's house pretending to be husband and wife but truth be told by this time Rhys and Elizabeau have fallen madly in love with one another secretly. Elizabeau can't deny her feelings and tells Rhys how she feels for him. Rhys despite being a devoted faithful knight does the one thing he knows that is against the knightly code tells her the depth of his feelings and how much he loves her too. Rhys realizes that his feelings and his love for her should not be acted on since Elizabeau is supposed to marry another. So he struggles with not only her but himself and others in fighting how he feels. He realizes how wrong it is but can't help himself and neither can she. The impending betrothed and marriage of Elizabeau attempts to meet them while Rhys and Elizabeau are trying to flee. Friends and family of Rhys realize this and now must find them to bring them back. Meanwhile, Rhys and Elizabeau are fighting their feelings for each other and can no long prevent it eventually by sleeping together and following their feelings they make love. Rhys brother goes looking for them and finds them but others are also looking and find them too. While Rhys attempts to get Elizabeau onto a ship and to refuge she is taken by the enemy. Elizabeau finds out that she is to be killed for treason and the jailor watching over her switches alliances to their cause and goes in search of Rhys telling him everything and they plan to get Elizabeau out but plans go awry and a supposed loyal supporter turns rogue betraying everyone but help comes from the allies and everyone escapes. The story finishes with Rhys and Elizabeau living happily with their kids and being reunited with Rhys family and his son.
Yes, there were several spelling errors but I really could care less because the story is so entrancing! I was cheering both of them on throughout the book! I couldn't help likening Rhys and Elizabeau to the doomed love of Sir Lancelot and Queen Guinevere for some reason. I was screaming at my kindle fire at Christopher de Lohr who isn't supposed to be the bad guy of the piece, Lawrence became Mordred and Sir Lewis became Maleagant. I just wanted Rhys and Elizabeau to end up happily ever after but boy did they have to go through a lot in order to get there. Ms. Le Veque really knows how to bring life to any novel and make this book worth reading again and again! I will strongly recommend this book and Ms. Le Veque!
I love her books. In spite of the editing errors, her stories are so good, so original, so historically interesting that I can read right around the mistakes, which are really minor.
