The Otis-Lennon School Ability Test - Eighth Edition (OLSAT 8) is a multiple-choice exam that seeks to assess a student's aptitude for in-school performance by testing his or her cognitive and seasoning abilities. The OLSAT Level E exam is administered to fourth and fifth grade students throughout the United States for placement into various gifted and Talented programs. The best way to develop the critical-thinking skills needed for a successful performance on the OLSAT is to practice with similarly-styled questions under test-like conditions. The Bright KidsTM Practice Test Three for the OLSAT - Level E (Fourth and Fifth Grade) contains a full-length practice test with 72 questions, in-depth answer explanations for every question in the practice test, and an answer key that lists the type of every test question in this book. The objectives of this practice test are to identify a student's strengths. Weaknesses, and overall test-taking ability in order to adequately prepare him or her for the actual exam. Understanding the content and the format of the OLSAT Level E test will enable a student to perform to the best of his or her ability on the day of the exam.

On the one hand, my son found the taking the test in the book enormously useful and was very glad he had the opportunity to practice with a test very similar to the test he actually took. Partly as a consequence, he thinks he did very well on his test. On the other hand, this is a lot of money for what turns out to be a SINGLE TEST and nothing else. No hints for how to tackle particular questions, no practice questions before you take the one test contained in the book, nada.Product details

Practice Test for the OLSAT Level E Fourth and Fifth Grade Test 3 Bright Kids NYC 9780985517809 Books Reviews
very good book it helped my kid....it's a good book for the price ..i am very happy with the book....
Very helpful to my kid but pricey...
Too expensive for just one test.
Expensive, but does help familiarize kids with the format. My daughter qualified for the gifted program and I think having an idea of what to expect helped.
Although one can't really practice for OLSAT but our daughter felt that this book definitely helped her to understand what to expect in test. She scored at 99 percentile.
This workbook prepared my child for the OLSAT Test. I was not disappointed. I liked the explanation of the correct answer when she unanswered a question incorrectly. It explained the correct answer at a level she could understand. My child is in the fifth grade.
This is the third level E test book I have purchased for my child. Are these books overpriced as many of the reviews of the other books have said? Absolutely! So why do I keep purchasing these books? Because they are best GATE test prep materials out there. They come with sample questions, 72 test questions, an answer key (that gives the answer and type of question - ex. inference, pattern matrix, figural analogy, etc.), and another answer key with in depth explanations of the answers. These books take the guess work out of what might be on the test and helps kids become more familiar with the types of questions they will be expected to answer.
